Introduction
Caminho das Reduções is an educational game focused on Human Sciences, set in the Jesuit reductions located in Brazil, in the 7 Peoples of the Missions.

The first decision was to turn the scope into small, simple narratives: the user needed to understand the story first, before interacting with any stage.
Project challenges
The central challenge was to organize content, interaction and immersion so the experience felt fluid and dynamic for the target audience, while still keeping its main goal: learning.
Our challenge at the start of the project was to create an educational game with entertainment-game mechanics, so the user would stay engaged, drawn in by the story and narrative, while still learning through play.
From there, we decided to create an interactive 3D board game with several mini-games at each stage of the board, each one representing one of the 7 Peoples of the Missions.

How the solution took shape
The solution was built in layers: first the narrative, then the mechanics and screens, and finally the validation of the experience.
We helped create the script and the gameplay loop strategy, testing several mechanics to find ones compatible with the game's experience and context. After that, we began building the screens for the other games attached to the board, including word search, memory game, coloring, matching, archery and a free-roam board mechanic.
We prioritized consistency from one piece of content to the next, the learning flow, and constant attention to the game's screens, interaction and performance, so the experience stayed clear in real use.

Results
The delivery consolidated a clear, direct, educational and dynamic interactive experience.
In the end, the project gained a more objective presentation and a foundation for future possibilities, a better understanding of the gameplay flow, and a more concrete read on the value of the solution.
